I'd Like To Point Out... I Now Enjoy Drawing

I drew this as an interpretation of a poem we were reading in my english class. I dare say, I think the skills I've acquired in class have helped out my recreational drawings as well!

What Do I Do When I'm Not Creating Things For BDS?

Draw cameras of course! This is actually an assignment for my Industrial Design Drawing class, but I like them, and they're relevant to my design perspective, so here they are.

Prototypes, Round #1

Here goes nothing!

Ideations Are A Girl's Best Friend :)

Currently, our project is to create a wooden box to house something that is precious to us. The box is supposed to complement the object, and I tried to create designs that would, but still fit into my distinct, personal style. So, enjoy!

Final Prototype for the Wayfinding Project!

Sorry it took so long to get these up, but here they are :D

Unfortunately, we didn't get to test this set out but, just by the modifications we made, I think it would have done quite well!

Revisions: Wayfinding

These are photos from the second testing of the prototype.

All in all, this run did rather well!

Outside Projects

Seeing as I've acquired some great new skills in my design classes, the scope of my projects for fun has significantly changed, so here are some of my current ideas!

I've been widening the scope of my drawing style, and these are pictures of some of the comic books and fan art from those books that has inspired me!

I have an aspiration to be much taller and I also enjoy costume design quite a bit. The quest for Elton John-esque shoes continues!

See that pencil bag that looks like an envelope? I've been trying to figure out how to make one that would function as a pencil bag without wearing and tearing insanely quickly. Still a work in process.

This is merely a picture of one of my assignments for my industrial design drawing class. The basic premise is that you use as few lines as possible to demonstrate the shape you want. No wisps, no hairy lines, only clean, precise line work!

My final and most ambitious project is to create a mermaid tail from latex or silicone that is completely functional as well as water proof. I've looked up people doing it themselves, and I think I could manage it!

Anyhow, I hope these projects have given you some insight to my extracurricular design life! Enjoy!

What Do I Think of When Someone Says "Good Wayfinding"?

A zoo. That's right, you heard me, a zoo. Zoos have some of the greatest wayfinding systems of all time, because their audiences are children, so they pick things that the mind recognizes quickly. Bright colors, pictures instead of words, and large arrows pointing the way to such main attractions as the Polar Bears, or Lions.

So the idea is that by incorporating these things into wayfinding for all people, we can make directions much less of a headache. People like to insist upon professional looking signs that are designed entirely for aesthetic, but not function. If we combine the aesthetic appeal with fluid functioning, Viola! Perfect world. Okay, maybe not a perfect world, but definitely a better one. Slightly.
